As an... uh... infrequent poster on another site, I always enjoyed discussion about college football, but had little to add in many cases, mainly due to the problems of said site which have already been hashed over many times. I find ESPN and other news sources OK, but I enjoy discussing college football in-depth much more than simply reading what journalists have to say. It's always more fun to hear from a perspective of a fan or an alum, anyways.
I'm talking user-based polls, relevant off-season discussions, and a little bit of banter between fans. I could honestly discuss conference realignment, playoff, and top 25 scenarios all day. It could be fun, depending on what kind of fans we have here.
Considering the discussion-based nature of Hubski, this is a near-perfect platform for what I'm looking for. I'm hoping that either #cfb or #collegefootball can see some revival when
NDSU
takes on Montana
on August 29th!
This should be a really fun season.
Allow me to introduce myself! I was born and raised an Iowa Hawkeye
but I'm currently in Minnesota, and a really terrible fan of my own school, St. Olaf.
Either way you slice it, I bleed black and gold, although Iowa's looks a little more yellow, dont'ca think?
Happy to be here!
Why couldn't it be the NFL >:| I'm super into the NFL, but I haven't touched college football yet. Part of that is because I really don't have a team like I do with other sports. I like having somebody to root for. Anyway, if this sparks more general sports discussion on Hubski then I'm all for it.
Like tacocat I'm more of a casual fan. I couldn't even name you most of the players. Hell I couldn't even tell you who they play half the time. I do randomly check in on scores and how their doing. Which is usually horrible. What can I say, I'm a Wyoming fan! They may be one of the worst football teams ever but oh man are they fun to see! Well, until halftime hits and everyone leaves because they aren't drunk anymore and they're usually down by 30 at this point.
I could have sworn I remembered them having a good season recently, but that was actually in men's basketball. Oh well. That being said, I'm the same kind of fan about St. Olaf. We lost our homecoming game in incredible fashion this year. I'm all about watching and keeping up with the P5 conferences, though.
I'm a casual fan. Sorry that I can't talk about realignment all day. I hated the football team when I was in college because they made Saturdays in the fall hell for anyone who didn't want to tailgate all day but I'm a fan now that I've graduated. I can shoot the shit a little and try to follow the goings on in CFB and the NFL during the season.
Haha I understand the feeling. Coming from a school that doesn't have Saturdays planned around football, it's still a nuisance to go to the games or even plan events around them (despite no parking, ticket fee, or alcohol present at St. Olaf). Georgia is a popular pick to unseat two-time defending East champion Missouri this year! They are loaded with talent but seem to underperform when expectations are high. I'm sure that their heartbreaking loss to Georgia Tech last year will motivate them this year, however. Bama, @ Tenn, Florida, @ Auburn, @ GT should all be fun games to watch.
They put us on the cover of SI one year. We were preseason #1. Alabama blew our doors off. I don't know if you saw the GA/FLA game last year but the ending was crazy in a rage inducing way. I'm a Bears and White Sox fan too. Nothing fairweather about me.
