Personally I'd like to take at least one more road trip on my bike before it's too cold and I an pulling out the skis. Possibly drive out to the West Coast and ride along the ocean for awhile. Get me out of the Midwest and away from my job!
So Hubskis, let's hear your plans!.
What are you doing talking about summer like it's almost over? Do you want to scare it off? It's a fickle creature, this summer. But in it, I still have a notebook business to start, and writing to submit (and finish, should probably do that first). Got people to meet, parties to learn about, a century to ride, and tons to lift. God, I love being a student, so I can actually get stuff done during the summer.
I've gotten into bookbinding some over the past year or so, making a few notebooks for friends' birthdays, and some pocket and school ones for myself. My town has a local craft and flea market, where anyone can set up a table for $15 a week, with no commitment week to week. I'm hoping to build up a base stock over the next couple of weeks, and start selling there. The market only lasts the summer though. So, in a few months, once I turn 18, I'm planning on opening up an online shop, either through Etsy or the rumored Amazon alternative.
Ah I am sorry, I speak about summer as if it's almost over since my work schedule is weird. I work 14 days straight 7 off. So for me, 4 more weeks off and there may be snow on the ground. Like there was here about 2 and a half months ago. I do miss school, mainly the social aspect. Although I apparently can't push myself to actually attend when I was enrolled for a year (twice). Figured instead of wasting my time and money on something I alarmed dreaded, I may as well be miserable while earning some cash instead of losing it. Although I still do my fair share of losing cash. Enjoy school while you're in it, next thing you know you'll be 23 with two years of experience in a field that does nothing for you other than pay bills.
There are a number of things I'd like to do: 1. Visit Michigan and see mk, b_b and ecib 2. Teach my daughter to ride a bike 3. Go to the pool at least twice a week with the family 4. Grill out. A lot. 5. Make more music with ghostoffuffle and T-Dog. 6. Play tennis 7. Power-wash my house 8. Find a new gig 9. Lose 10 pounds 10. Finish my latest Hubski podcast on "Drugs" so steve can put it to video with the rest of them:
Sounds like you have quite the list going! Still a full summer ahead of you with that one!
I had no idea that the fact that I'm power-washing my house tomorrow would place me in a position of envy. I've been on fire with the grill lately. I've been cooking outside almost every day. Super simple stuff, just throwing whole veggies right on along with sausages from a really awesome butcher. Got the whole deck lined with herb pots too to toss in the mix. I'll be sad when winter comes again, but I do love a good crock pot meal and that thing just feels wrong in the summertime :)
yeah, a crockpot has no place in a summertime menu. I am also power washing my house tomorrow. I put it on the list knowing that it would quickly be crossed off :)
My friends and I are taking a huge road trip to the Upper Peninsula in Michigan. It'll be a long drive and I'm the only one who has a license, but I can't wait to go! It's going to be awesome, finally being away from all the familiarity of where I live. I want to get lost! Aside from that, I want to be able to finish the short story that I'm currently working on before the summer ends.
I've never been to Michigan, so a road trip there actually sounds like it could be quite fun. Road trips for me usually consist of heading to Idaho and Utah since that is where most of my friends are living now. I live where ever I feel like it. Sometimes at home, sometimes in my truck or random strangers apartments on little road trips. Last time was a little interesting when we passed out on a floor in portland. Only plus side is no hotel cost!
mk spends time in the U.P every year. Hubski is out of Ann Arbor. I grew up there and mk lives there now. Do you live in MI?
Yep! I'm in the Flint area, ~45 minutes west of the city. It's a nice little town I live in, but my friends and I agreed that a change in scenery would be a nice treat for surviving high school. I didn't know Hubski would be so close! Hey (not-so-close) neighbors!
Having just finished my freshman year of high school while taking lovely Latin, I have to stop procrastinating and do some practices so all that amazing knowledge doesn't slip out of my head this summer. And since my brother will start taking Latin next year, I'm thinking that I could start teaching him the basics so he's extra prepared while reviewing it myself! Aaaand I've been saying that for weeks already.
Ah, do it! If there is one thing I wish I had done, it would be remembering what little Spanish I had taken. As of now I can't remember a thing. I would like to learn Japanese but I like to procrastinate.
More beach time, for swimming and bodysurfing and skimboarding. And people watching with the girlfriend. I worship the beach.
It's early July. One thing I've got to do this summer is finally get my ass around to making some photo prints, framing them, and selling them in town. I'm also eagerly awaiting the announcement of the next Oddball Festival, but they sure are taking their time.
Actually find a nice cliff and jump into the water!
After I finish my summer course I want to finish reading 1Q84 and translate two interviews. Also review last semester's textbooks and vocabulary, plus go over next semester's textbooks and vocabulary. So essentially what I'll be doing is studying. Studying is fun. What's this sun thing that's making my life warm and uncomfortable again?
I'm in southern California for a summer stint as a visiting student, and I'd love to squeeze in a few more hikes before I head back to Texas where there aren't as many mountanous trails to tackle. Beaches and the PCH are other options too!
Well, visiting the Caribbean is my plan. Most of my family comes from that tropic region, so it is always nice to return to my roots for awhile. When I get to go usually it's for family (which is never a bad thing), but this time it's specifically for pleasure. I think we tend to forget the more subtle parts of our culture sometimes.
