I think in general it's highly inadvisable to cover Cash. Cash can cover everyone, but most no one can cover Cash and do him justice.

My pre-existing bias now noted, this cover was featured in a Levi's or Target or something commercial, and I just hated it. I think it takes every ounce of bite that was in the original, and removes it. The song is de-fanged. And while "Walk the Line" is in ways a romantic song, there should be a current of danger in it. This version has none of that. It's one-dimensional. It might as well be a lullaby.

No one does good Elvis covers either. It's weirdly difficult. As opposed to the Beatles who get covered well all the time. Fiona Apple's Across the Universe is really good, for example. The Breeders Happiness is a Warm Gun.

I really like Ben Folds Golden Slumbers

I also like Sara Mclachlan's Blackbird

Both from the I Am Sam soundtrack. It's sad when your soundtrack of cover songs is vastly better than your shitty Oscar bait.
