For clarity: the "music" equivalent of this contract is "I, Taylor Swift, hereby grant you the rights to tape my concert for Tiny Desk Concerts Inc. and only Tiny Desk Concerts, Inc. You do not have the right to resell your work to anyone else. Meanwhile, I reserve the right to the songs you taped because they're my songs." When I shot concerts I either had permission or I didn't. This is a "you don't have permission except for this very specific purpose" (IE, taking pictures during Song 2 or 3, without flash, for the exclusive use of the named news or press agency ONLY). If the photographer isn't getting paid for the job, but only for the photos if they run, the photographer needs to negotiate a better rate from his client, not from Taylor Swift.
Ah.. but this is the thing Taylor, you say it’s not about you – but clearly it is. Why else would you make such a public statement about how you’re standing up for the rights of new artists and bands? Are you really supportive of other artists? This is petty and patently absurd.
Uh, no. The contract specifies "noncommercial purposes." Not at all free or unlimited. On all other matters I defer to kb.This is not about me. Thankfully I am on my fifth album and can support myself, my band, crew, and entire management team by playing live shows
demands that you are granted free and unlimited use of our work,
Wasn't she as highest grossing artist for like 2 years? She literally made more money off her music than anyone else and still pulls this bullshit. What a cunt. I do respect the fact that artists should get paid for their music, but as she doesn't control where her music goes(she's on a label), she can't be publicly complaining about where it goes. She is a stupid, spoiled little girl with crazy entitlement issues. Kind of like Lars ulrich except he was part of a band that used to actually be good.
