Very cool post. Although it's extremely different it reminded me of this: scale of the universe
How cool would it be to just scroll through time and see various images of artwork come forth from one particular place. An evolution of art as well as a time line. Someone should create this.

That would be neat but using that style I think you would have to pick a certain type of art to limit the number of images. It would be a great way of showing how specific techniques evolved though. The main thing I like about this timeline is how much information you are given. It shows the present-day geographic region, thematic essays, material, technique, biography of the artist, and collections of similar works. It also has more than paintings, my favorite so far has been a clock.

You're right regarding the site I proposed, it would have to feature a specific type of art and it's evolution, if it were to have the desired impact.
