This is mostly aimed at all the new users but a reminder for the old guard.
WHAT CAN BE LEARNED?
Why are we here? Why not Reddit or Voat (unrelated note, that place is a wasteland) or any other vomitorium of social dialogue?
We are here to learn from others through good shares and thoughtful discussion. Hubwheels are a helpful barometer but as a recovering karmawhore I've grown tired of hitting the refresh button just to see who agrees with my latest witticism.
Enter Zen mode. A beautiful piece of Hubski code that blinds you from your own selfawareness. A post or comment goes celebrated or unloved? I'll never know and it won't matter because I've shared my true perspective.
Zen is what seperates Hubski from all the other aggregators and I invite everyone to try it for themselves. I've seen the light and I'm not going back Jim.
Yes, I'm high as a kite right now.
I tried zen mode for about ten minutes. I don't care (too much) how many people agree with me or think I'm funny, but the zen mode icon is seriously ugly so my noble experiment was short lived. I can make the decision between helvetica neue and neue light into an internal struggle so I'm probably hypersensitive to aesthetics
But my friend here in Zen your wheel is always full. It's all about the greater good. THE GREATER GOOD JOIN US
It does look like a gear. Thought that was changed? It's supposed to look like a lotus flower. There is a better icon that used to be on there, but I'm not sure where it went. mk?
I know... I need the lotus in svg. insomniasexx made one for me, but for some reason it was badly behaved. I keep forgetting to update it. If you still have any versions of the lotus, send them along.
I don't know that Zen mode is the best idea for new users, especially from the reddit exodus (reddexodus? rexodus?) such as myself. I figure that Hubski is a unique enough community that having a feedback loop for your posts and comments in the beginning would be a good thing. That way, new users will now if they are consistently crossing the line, or how well they will fit in with the community.
A good point. Nothing's a perfect system and I needed that feedback at first to know where I stood. Now though? I find it exciting to be in the dark.
Ah, so that's what the zen toggle is for. Neat.
What does zen mode do? I'm afraid to turn it on :-(
Out beyond the ideas of right and wrongdoing, there is a field. I'll meet you there.
I can't believe I didn't know what Zen mode was until right now. I'm trying it now and I like it a lot, I may stick with it.
I've tried zen before and didn't like the look of it. Maybe I'll try again. I found the hubwheels useful at first as they helped guide what people here found interesting or not. When I get no little dots for a funny video it reminds me that people here don't really want funny videos. Then again, sometimes I post something that I think is profound and get a zero and that can be irritating. It's good to see that original content is the most popular of what I share, and indeed I like reading or listening to original content the best.
