You say the hill's too steep to climb,
Chiding!
You say you'd like to see me try,
Climbing!
You pick the place and I'll choose the time
And I'll climb
The hill in my own way
just wait a while, for the right day
And as I rise above the treeline and the clouds
I look down hear the sound of the things you said today
Fearlessly the idiot faced the crowd, smiling
Merciless, the magistrate turns 'round, frowning
and who's the fool who wears the crown
Go down in your own way
And everyday is the right day
And as you rise above the fearlines in his frown
You look down
Hear the sound of the faces in the crowd
As for learning about Floyd, better late than never.
But I'm glad I watched and listened, I have always love Floyd and always will. The New Green used to cover Fearless. For the main instrument melody we used a trombone and a trumpet. It was pretty cool.
What Gilmore was able to do after Waters left is pretty remarkable. There are a lot of people (Waters included) that didn't think Floyd would be around much longer or be relevant. I think Gilmore is one of the best lead guitarists ever. Floyd has such a long and rich history as a band, it's amazing stuff. When we were kids we would take my neighbors video camera and record ourselves lip syncing our favorite songs. I remember my pal jettig singing along to this piece of perfection comfortably numb which is another of my favorites. It has what I think may be the best guitar solo ever. Because we were kids and probably had little understanding of the lyrics Jim sang it while wearing a scarf and mittens. Why? Because to us the numb part meant "cold". -Ha. But I agree that Learning to Fly is a fantastic song. Thanks for taking me down Pink Floyd memory lane.
Floyd rocking about as hard as they ever did. [edit] -Almost sounds like old Sabbath.
Ok, so you are now officially the first person who has uttered the names [Pink] Floyd and [Black] Sabbath in the same breath.
[edit] dude... I've had a couple glasses of wine. I'm a little slow. Enjoy that crazy diamond!
