This can be something simple and nearby, or somewhere exotic that you visited. What makes you like it? What do you do when you're there?
To answer my own question, its probably somewhere along the Seattle (the city where I live) waterfront. When its been cloudy for a couple of days, and I need to get out, I'll go stand on a pier in the drizzle and overcast, take some headphones, listen to some favorite songs, and just watch the water and the boats on the bay. It always helps soothe me, and reminds me of the things I love in life.
San Diego, California. The weather was perfect every day while I was there and the pace of life just seemed so relaxed. That is probably where I would retire.
The climbing gym. I picked up my old climbing hobby a couple of months ago, and now I'm climbing as much as I can. I love to climb, and it is one of the few places where I can just relax without being bothered. No phone calls, no emails, just having fun on the wall with some awesome people over there.
This is a pretty difficult one for me... It's probably Howth, a small seaside village in Dublin, Ireland. I remember visiting it from time to time when I was a kid, so there's a lot of happy memories there. When I eventually moved to Dublin to go to university, I took a girl I was crushing on there for a little day trip. It was such a lovely, sunny day, and we hadn't seen each other for 2 years. We sat overlooking the cliffs just catching up; I don't remember laughing so much in my life. The combination of blue skies, ocean air, and this amazing girl I hadn't seen in forever really made a real imprint on me. We still go back there from time to time to just go for a walk, look through the Sunday Market, and generally just enjoy the atmosphere. There's something really charming about little seaside towns.
My own head, because I control it and it often goes beyond what is possible here. The real world gets disappointing when you're a dreamer - what IS possible is too expensive for me, and what isn't well isn't.
The movie theater with my wife. I love movies and I will see any that is even remotely interesting. My favorite part is when we become instant "preview critics" when we decide whether the movie will get our money strictly based on the trailer.
One of my favorite places is south Spain, Sierra Nevada to be more specific. My gf and I have been there a couple of times and we always go on long walks with our dog in the mountains. The reason I like it so much: The climate, it's always warm and it doesn't rain very often The scenery, just beautiful nature all around The smell, in the summer rosemary is growing everywhere and walking in the mountains it just smells incredible The people, most people in South Spain are very friendly The food, tapas and great dishes everywhere
On the top of a very snowy and powdery mountain resort strapped into my snowboard while looking down at the trees and paths I can go through. I love the feeling of being able to just gun it over soft snow or tactically manuever myself through a green pine-tree forest. Snowboarding is my mental and physical release from my life, I have no worries while I'm in the mountains.
I'll answer with something sort of broad as well as something specific. For the broad location, I enjoy being on the beach at night. I used to live in Long Beach, CA in a place that had beach access and would spend a lot of nights on the beach with a jacket and my headphones. Those were definitely some of the more peaceful moments of my life, and I miss them dearly now that I've moved more centrally. For the more specific location, I really enjoy the Boardwalk Resort in Disneyworld. I've spent a lot of time there with family and loved ones, and the atmosphere and memories, along with it being in Disneyworld, make it one of my favorite places I've ever been. As a side note, I've never been to Europe but have always dreamed of going to Paris, as cliché as that sounds. I have a feeling if I go there my opinions might change on my favorite place.
I have two. One is a room with no windows, two loud AC units and is full of the people I play games with. If I could spend more time with these people, you are darn right I would. The second was in the Sierra Nevada mountains at 9000 feet at a star party. There were so many stars in the sky that I could not find the constellations. It was awesome, in the original correct meaning on that word.
