Retail stores, insurance companies, government agencies. No one's data is safe. It's like the wild west out there and we're all riding on the same stage coach, just begging to get held up by highway bandits.

Stewart Brand is right.

Data wants to be free. The crux is that it won't always be freed by how/when/where/who you want.

Aren't you glad you gave Apple your fingerprint?

Truth be told, I avoid devices with those kinds of gimmicks. What's mine is mine and I'll try my best to keep others from having it.

You know, 15 years ago if someone told me this would become a thing I'd have found it absolutely exciting. Hacking is the future of crime and warfare! Just like in all those sci-fi novels!

Now? It's everything from mildly annoying to somewhat disconcerting to potentially terrifying. I'd like to keep my dystopias in my fiction thank you.
