It's not every day I get to use the #wheresthebeef tag. Thanks.

It's definitely interesting stuff. organicAnt, would you eat lab grown meat? wasoxygen, how about you?

Sure. I mean, I would consider it based on the same criteria as other foods. It would be absurd to refuse it on an "icky" basis while giving industrial meat a pass.

20 to 30 years before it's commercially viable

This seems like a vast timeline. We already have semi-tolerable plant-based meat substitutes. We can already keep brain-dead bodies alive indefinitely. I predict that we will have commercially viable meat-like products produced using animal DNA by 2025.

I shared this post with my middle school math class. Many of the kids reacted with the immediate "yuck!" We then reasoned that cultured meat wasn't really any more repulsive than the creation of cheese or yogurt. Plus, this form of beef would likely create less methane gas and require less water than cows. Defintely sounds more sustainable at this point.

We need some sort of like "Little used, but amazing, hubski tags" post.

Make it, I'll contribute. I certainly have some.
