Yeah. Great post. Reminds me of the "hormonally impaired" middle schoolers I teach daily. I've gotta believe that these kids, at their current stage in life, experience similar feelings as schizophrenics. I've had countless students over the years that have the most difficult time with connecting their own actions to the troubles they may have caused themselves. All too often their belief is "Teachers are away getting me in trouble!", rather than, "Hey, sometimes I do get out of control and make decisions that hurt others. I think I'll work on changing that." I have found the best results come from replaying difficult events with students only when they are in a mindful, logical state of mind. They can then best connect the dots properly.
