Lot of references for education. I'd love to teach an entire middle school class around this topic. I think I'll mention it to my leadership and see if I can get them to buy it.
That was my first reaction as well. First teach them the difference between an observation and an interpretation. Once they realize that they are interpreting everything they perceive, it'll be easier to explain the various biases that colour their perceptions. I have some exercises that should be adaptable to a middle school experience.
