I'm surprised that no one has found a workaround for jailbreaking into this, even if there is some work on the hardware as a prereq. (making a connection, etc.) Maybe you could even drive the chip to broadcast... it'd probably melt your flex cables or something though.
I must be in the minority of people who really insist on having FM radio functionality for my phone. Online radio streaming not only eats up my data consumption, but also lacks the personal touches of the DJ interacting with listeners - and occasionally invited guests.
I guess. I suppose I tend to prefer to stumble upon new interesting music serendipitously through the radio stations' playlists. And it's also a personal "bonus" that it's the stations personally recommending the music to their listeners, so I get to hear songs beyond the personal comfort zone that the streaming algorithm would probably avoid.
I have fm on my HTC but the reception is lousy.
So I take it I can't activate this chip myself? I have an iPhone 5s, for the record.
