That's incredible. Once achieved, it will be amazing. I'm surprised they can't just bring it low, then dump it into the water with an inflatable deployed to keep it afloat. Is it critical it doesn't get wet? It doesn't seem it if they first tried parachutes.
Apparently, their goal is to land it upon solid ground, and the barge is just a safety measure.
It boggles the mind that this is not the best case scenario. They are landing a giant piece of metal on a platform floating on the ocean. How the hell is it supposed to land without tipping the boat over. Jesus.but lateral motion caused it to tip over at the last second
I don't think the boat tipped over, just the rocket. Barges are incredibly stable boats, as they're both wide and long. I'd be surprised if they aren't met with success in three more tries or less.
