Want to see something funny ? Look at this: This guy wants people to think that the government isn't monitoring everyone's digital activity but wants to make it easier for the government to access private communication networks. I don't know how he didn't catch this misleading language before he gave this speech. In all honesty, though, he did say at least one thing that's worth reflecting on: I'm willing to discuss this issue and consider it from a rational perspective. In the wake of the Snowden disclosures, the prevailing view is that the government is sweeping up all of our communications. That is not true.
Perhaps it’s time to suggest that the post-Snowden pendulum has swung too far in one direction—in a direction of fear and mistrust. It is time to have open and honest debates about liberty and security.
Hah, that's your rep., isn't it? Yeah, ouch. It's posted on c-span.org with the mocking title "The Cybers". Also see mk's post for more depressing comedy.
That's probably my favorite soundbyte from this whole shindig.“We’re drifting to a place where a whole lot of people are going to look at us with tears in their eyes,” [Comey] told the House Appropriations Committee, describing a hypothetical [situation] in which a kidnapped young girl’s phone is discovered but can’t be unlocked.
