I'm in a very Dylan mood and I'm listening through all of it. At this point i've heard most of Bringing it All Back Home and some Blood on the Tracks which my Dylan-loving homie claims is his "true best even though everyone disagrees with me."
! I'm also curious if there are any examples of Dylan getting a little pissed in his lyrics or a song that has a bit more edge showing from him. I think It's Alright Ma gets close just because of how powerful the topic/story is, but it's not quite an expression of anger.
THANKS!
To that first point, fair enough! That being said, nope and nope to 1 and 3. So I've heard, as far as I am aware, 1 Bob Doolan song. I didn't have enough friends for Rock Band, but THANKS for bringing up those tender memories, Ref, jesus. Maybe I didn't have any friends because I barely know who Bob Dylan is
What about "All Along the Watchtower"? "Knocking on Heaven's Door"? "I Shot the Sheriff"? Dylan songs, all, even if made popular by others. There are many others, too, that I'm sure you've come across without knowing it. If you've seen the Big Lebowski (and really, everyone should have by now), Dylan did the theme to that movie (I think it's called "The Man in Me").
Well, it's a hell of a movie intro, why not post it here: I'm throwing rocks tonight...
Such a great intro such a great movie. thanks nowaypablo I'll be dylaning all morning.
Not quite anger, not quite a song, but if you're a fan of spoken word... or really, even if you're not: Here's a close-to-anger Dylan. The subject certainly makes me angry.
"I wish that for just one time you could stand inside my shoes. Then you'd know what a drag it is to see you." Always sounded angry to me. Also, thinking blood on the tracks is Dylan's best album is first of all correct, and second of all not unique. Your friend is only half right.
I have listened to this version of Tangled Up In Blue" often the past few weeks. Can't find it on You-Tube so I'll post a link to it. Supposedly this was an earlier draft of the song that the record companies wanted to be worked up a bit more (this could be bullshit, no idea, some guy gave me this CD and told me I'd love it, he was so right). https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/14672413/01%20Tangled%20Up%20In%20Blue.m4a I put this on the other day while cooking dinner and my wife said "I finally understand Bob Dylan."
I've read this song was the crossroads between Dylan's folk and rock paths, much to the chagrin of his fans at the time. Lyrics seem pretty angry to me. A man with his back to the wall. My favorite song of his by a mile.
I'd have to go with his version of All Along the Watchtower And Knocking on Heaven's Door
Nice, the first one was new to me. Got a chill hearing the harmonica instead of Hendrix shredding the guitar. Glad to be able to discern the lyrics finally lol.
...now I really want to stay in Mozambique, or whatever awesome place he described that he imagines Mozambique to be. Do you listen to any other folk music like this? Aside from Neil Young/CSNY (sorry to steal you of a shout-out for Canada.) ;) I don't know if Bob Dylan was so unique for his time or if everyone was running this vibe– if so I'd love to hear more.
You got me listening to Dylan tonight. Like a Rolling Stone, Just Like a Woman -- He was so right in The Times They Are A'Changin - also, some covers of Dylan songs are worth listening to. It's still Dylan: if you haven't already, listen to Spanish Boots of Spanish Leather... by Airbone Toxic Event and With God on Their Side by K'naan from the same tribute album - songs by Dylan for Amnesty International.
Happy to help! :D This is awesome, thank you!You got me listening to Dylan tonight.
