"It is hard to say exactly why such a phrase from a bygone decade would have so much appeal and resonance now"
Speaking for myself who immediately thought "I need that hanging over my desk at work," I think any reminder to relax or slow down helps in society. I have to tell myself that about 10-15 times a day. The historical background makes it even that much more interesting. Anyone read the book by any chance?

I've not read the book but my wife and I have been talking about getting some more artwork for the home and I think this would be perfect to hang in our home office. After watching it, I immediately sent her the link and asked, "what do you think, for the office wall"? I love the history behind it. Also, I would love to visit that book shop, sit and have some tea in one of the original waiting rooms, while reading.

cliffelam, this is the video I referenced today.
I can't help but paint any American I see wearing this merchandise as an easily-brainwashed twat. They have no cultural connection to WWII-era British propaganda. The only reason for the recent spread of this artifact is an enormous marketing blitz.

I've watched every Foyles War episode, thank you very much. Therefore, not only am I keenly aware of WWII-era British propaganda but I also have tremendous sleuthing abilities.

You may be right, but I've never seen it before and hadn't realized that it had become commercialized. It's new to me and the message and image resonated. What's wrong with that? Feel free to decorate your office as you see fit, I'll do the same. If mine resembles a college dorm room to some, that's quite alright with me. Here's the poster I had in my college room: beatles
I'd gladly still hang it.

Doesn't it bother you that I knew what picture that would be before I even opened it? -Not at all, I could give two shits about what anything I hang on my walls "says about me" from your vantage. I care what it "says to me". What I think of when I see the Abbey Road cover is not what you do. I remember being 12 years old and hearing it for the first time. I remember falling asleep for the better part of that year listening to side two of that album, exploring every inch of that music. So for me, having that image on my college wall wasn't about saying "hey, this is me" it was about saying to myself remember how great it was discovering this? Remember that year?
I'm curious though, what would have passed your cool quotient dublinben? What is hanging on your non conforming walls that encapsulates you, that shows the world what an independent thinker you are? I guess for me, the art I like, the books I read, the clothes I wear have to tell me something. I don't care what they tell you.
