I don't know, the FBI apparently thought they were enough of a threat to arrest several of their members. LulzSec (although I'm not as sure about AntiSec) has been linked to several large scale data heists. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/LulzSec
I'd agree that taking down a webpage is a rather childish statement, but they are clearly capable hackers.
