I was going to include upright bipedalism but decided not to given that it is not exclusive to human hominids (and indeed was around long before any of the Homo genus walked the plains; it is thought the Australopithecines were the first to walk on their hind legs).

There are also the Bonobo apes, chimps who can walk some distances on their hind legs.[1] I included it because, even though not particular to humans, it was still decisive in the history of humanity.
