I believe order is relatively unimportant when you're condensing a few millenia into a list of 10 things. :-)

I think another thing in-line with alcohol and birth control is caffeine. It's done wonders for productivity, and coffee is a staple of the modern work schedule.

Yes I suppose order is unimportant, especially considering that the things we are listing have such a vast influence that it would probably be impossible to compare them.
