Hey all.
blackbootz, ecib, b_b, and I will be getting together on the evening of February 7th. We know that we will be in the Detroit metro area, but haven't decided where. Probably either Ann Arbor, Detroit, or Royal Oak.
If anyone else is around and wants to hang with us, let us know. Where you are at might help us decide where we will meet.
UPDATE: it looks like we are leaning towards an evening in Detroit.
I'm not sure how I'm gonna travel yet but for the record, Detroit or royal oak are best for me. I don't think I can do an hour one way. So is Detroit in the lead as a destination?
No. I was staying in Royal Oak last time I was in Detroit, summer of 2014, but now I'm staying in Redford.
So what are you thinking, dinner in Ann Arbor and then we Amtrak back to the Hopcat near the train stop?
Detroit it is! mk, where could we dinner? It sounds like Hopcat gets the vote for drinks afterwards.
Is your +1 a hubskier? I ask because I have a non-hubski friend that I'm in Detroit with.
Gold Cash Gold overrated and not conducive to a group get together. Tables on floor not great for that and the bar is kinda not big. Green Dot will have a long wait. Probably close to an hour for a decent size table. I say Mercury or Motor City Brewery. Great Lakes Coffee has an interior space that would be great for a meetup, and has a bar with drinks and coffee. Hopcat I have not been to but am curious. We could always hit the Bronx. Pool table, two juke boxes, cheap beers, dive.
How old are you then? And I think the final destination would be settled nearer the date, after anyone interested chimes in.
You know, if it weren't for the prohibition on underagers being in bars, assuming it's a bar we go to at any point, then I wouldn't mind. A hubskier is a hubskier is a hubskier.
Now that I think about it, I only know burger places for restaurants. I think most of them have built-in bars, though. Here's what I can remember off the top of my head. The Sportsman's Bar in Waterford Township: Been there lots of times, never had a bad time. The Vinsetta Garage in Berkley: Good food. A little bit loud. The Basement Burger Bar in Farmington: Best burger I've ever had, and I've had a lot of burgers. Best atmosphere of all of these. Slow service, though. I hope some of this helps. Most of these are a little far out from the city proper, but so am I.
Thanks, Waterford. I've heard Vinsetta is very good. Alas, it looks like we are going to Detroit. Don't lament your youth, however. It will be remedied. So far, old age cannot. That said, if we were close enough to you for dinner, you'd be more than welcome.
