In all fairness, saying stupid shit is what Freshman year is about. When it comes to social media, however, the blogosphere is full of hand-wringing parents and coin-rubbing investors that know there's an outsized impact from something they have an undersized understanding of. So they flail around looking for "wisdom" and quickly discover there isn't any because Reddit doesn't want you to know most of their traffic comes from porn searches. Facebook doesn't want you to know that they're selling you to anyone who throws them a nickel for any reason. Snapchat doesn't want you to know that their business model involves getting bought by a greater fool and that the greater fool isn't interested in the app, he's interested in the users. So all of a sudden they're taking business advice from a guy who just found out what FICA is and parenting advice from a kid that just saw his first keg cup.
