We used limited projection mapped sets (limited mainly by our low budget) for last year's theatrical project but the level of sophistication is advancing rapidly. I'm looking forward to this level of motion tracking becoming more commonplace theatrically.
Very cool, at the Life and Science museum near us, which you've attended with me, there are a couple of installations that combine the digital with human movement. My daughter loves them and I do too. Why? Because they REALLY tire her out. She'll run around for an hour straight or stand mesmerized as the shadow of her arms changes the course of falling colored droplets. A lot of this is very Tron. It's very different, in that it's not digital at all, but last year we saw Pilobolus -Dance/art is amazing!
