Dude, you should totally make dinner for your family. That would be bizarre in the best way.

I did that once, made a wok with sauces and bread and everything. They were very happy and surprised.

Heh, I suppose. It would need to be Alfredo, though. It's the only dinner I know how to make by heart.

So, you're thinking of making a cooking blog but you don't cook?

user-inactivated  ·  3608 days ago  ·  link  ·

Don't be rude. Alfredo is what I've cooked the most, so (like I said) I know it by heart. If I make something I haven't made a lot, I could fuck it up. I'm not gonna cook something that I don't have down if I'm cooking for anyone other than me. I know how to cook other things, just not as well.

I feel like whoever cooks dinner for your family on the reg also has the capacity to fuck it up. Just because they have more practice does not mean they are infallible, and the only way to gain practice is by doing. I don't think your family would mind terribly if you made something that wasn't perfect.

Do the cooks in your family only cook things they have cooked many times before? I'm sure they try new recipes from time to time.

One time my brother made pancakes for dinner with the wrong leavening and they tasted like pretzels. Gamely, my dad ate two of them.

Also - isn't it incredibly presumptuous and rude to tell someone not to be rude? In this same thread someone reads into your comment and sees something you didn't intend and you tell them to "interpret your comment however they will." Well, you just interpreted tng's comment however you wanted to. Looks like...oh...that's right...we're all not perfect. Let's try to be consistent, at least, in our approach.

You're taking things for what I've written that I don't mean.

Believe what you will about what that was supposed to mean.

Thank you for your advice, and your input on both how I act and how I speak. One set of advice is appreciated. Just like in the other thread, should I bother trying to defend myself?

_refugee_  ·  3607 days ago  ·  link  ·

I've actually only see you thank others for what you weren't brave enough to say.

user-inactivated  ·  3607 days ago  ·  link  ·

If I feel like I'm gonna get really mad, I thank people. Sometimes it is an actual thank-you, though. I'm shit at expressing what I mean, and I don't write very well. I'm assuming that was some kind of insult, but we all know what happens when you assume. I'm not a coward.

swedishbadgergirl  ·  3607 days ago  ·  link  ·

Nah, that never ends well.

thenewgreen  ·  3608 days ago  ·  link  ·

No rudeness intended, humor DEFINITELY intended. So, you are thinking of starting a breakfast and lunch cooking blog then? If so, I think that's great. In fact, I would suggest that the more niche or granular you could get in a subject as vast as "cooking," the better.

Sorry. I'm prickly about statements like that. Yeah, a breakfast and lunch sort of thing would be more my idea. Not sure on how to narrow it down from there. I'm thinking a sauce blog would be kind of funny. Just different kinds of sauces and shit you can put them on. Easy, too.
