How would the people of Hubski feel if I were to set up some sort of weekly/bi-weekly accountability post where goals, progress, and plans were discussed? thenewgreen mentioned how it was helpful having eightbitsamurai holding him accountable so it could be good to have that sort of environment. I'm guessing it would be a bit like Pubski, but specifically for our goals/plans/resolutions. Perhaps there could be some sort incentive scheme? Who knows what that could be though. - Achieve a distinction in my masters
- Wake up early every day
- Meditate every day
- Continue to listen more/talk less, but allow myself to ask more questions.
- Learn more things outside of my specialisation
- Learn more Unity. I made some pong clone in the summer, that was fun
- Create a considered daily schedule to facilitate all this
I was considering doing this myself the other day, but a friend's words came to mind that by discussing an idea socially, people tend to feel a bit of reward that they otherwise would have to wait until completion to obtain. Talking up a project can make one lose the motivation to actually complete it. Still, that's all on the submitter of said goals/progress/plans to consider.
They were probably remembering this Ted Talk. Whilst I think there's some truth to it, I think it does little to dissuade those who are truly committed. Either way, It wont just be "I plan to do this" and then no follow through. The difference here is that everyone will be holding each other accountable. Constant updates and/or evidence on how you have worked towards your goal each week and reinforcement of your plans is the idea here.
I would appreciate this a lot. Don't think there needs to be an incentive scheme- resolutions implicitly carry their own payoff. Accountability is nice, though.
Tag me on this rezzeJ when it gets going. My life would be better if I focussed on some goals. The only one I am consciously working on right now is standing taller when I'm out walking. I recommend it to everyone, even tall people. When I think about my posture and stand taller, I am making space for myself. I'm not sure what else I am projecting, but I definitely feel more comfortable in my heavily wrapped and dressed for winter body. (Heading south Friday. I will be more naked, but still taller.)
I'm intrigued, but I'm not sure what this entails exactly.. How would we be holding each other accountable?
Haha ok I feel that. Maybe on an introductory post we can recap on what our plans actually are?
