Requires: Windows
Video playthrough + Script/Summary coming soon. Let me know about download/whatever issues and I'll try to help best I can.
I put way too much effort into this than more people would probably want to know. Created using RPG Maker VX, with a little bit of Ruby thrown in there.
How to play:
Arrow Keys: Move
Enter: Select an action, move dialogue forward.
Esc: Open the menu, save, equip stuff, etc.
If you've played an RPG before you know the gist, if not, basically you move around on an overworld, with battles occurring randomly as you walk around. Players and enemies take turns attacking each other, with whoever has the fastest speed acting first, followed by second fastest, etc. etc. Players can also find new equipment to make their characters, -- Havires, Badger, and Ben -- stronger. If you're too lazy to explore, you can grind for badges, this game's currency, and buy better equipment from Demure. That might be necessary in order to fight one particular enemy...
Anyways, have fun with my stupid "I don't want to think about Finals" project. Let me know if there are places/enemies that seem impossible to get to/beat. I playtested it, but I also didn't playtest it THAT much. I'll try to change it ASAP.

Dude. Dude. An 8bit version of Big Poppa!? Oh. Right. Game. That's cool too I guess. Okay, I am very excited to play this!
Report back, I'm "Window-less" at the moment. Screenshots. Anyone.... Welcome back eightbitsamurai, I'm glad you're here pal. Not much has changed, but mk did make a Soylent Brûlée surely, that's worth returning for alone. I have a work computer that I could use. But damn if that isn't a terminable offense....
Fighting some baddies: Glamor shot in a big room: havires, swedishbadgergirl, OftenBen, demure: Y'all are famous! Won't spoil anything else. This is fun.
This is amazing. There is a game with me in it. Just played it. Is it weird if I add it to all my future CV's?
Ah. I never expected a self extracting archive containing a RPG Maker project. For some reason I presumed you'd be using SDL or something thanks to the extension. The only criticism I have so far is that transition to Tomorrow is Mine is extremely jarring and doesn't fit the rest of the music. You could have used instead Other than that it is pretty enjoyable.
Decided to poke around the directory a bit and "fixing" it turned out to be easier than I expected. Transcoded the 8 bit version of Mysterious destiny to OGG and renamed it to Hiroshi_Yamaguchi_-_Theme_Of_Bayonetta_2_-_Tomorro.ogg, and then dropped it into the folder.
ogg is just a container. The main advantage it has is that most of the formats it uses compress well enough, without being encumbered by patents and licenses unlike MP3. Wav is uncompressed, and as such takes up way more space than necessary. In most cases, humans won't be able to tell the difference between the lossless format and a lossy one, so it makes no sense to bloat release sizes with uncompressed/FLAC-like files.
PlatinumGames fans unite o/ The Wonderful 101 best game No Linux love? I'll try running it under Wine after it finishes downloading at the cinematic speed of 30KBps. :( Depending on what it is written in (and how well it is written), I could try making a native port should you choose to open source it.
Yup, I did on the second try :) On my first try I got to the boss way too fast, before even I had all the skills and equipment necessary and got beat really fast. It was a fun game, good job! I wanted to post about the secret boss but then was not sure if it's ok to spoil it to everyone. But now that the secret's out, I can tell you it was great!
I have done both of those things. First try too.
woo! I'm famous! thanks eightbitsamurai, I look forward to finishing the game
