I'm not sure what to expect? I enjoy his show and the guy makes me laugh but I wonder what he'll be like live?
I'm going with ipreferpi and look forward to a good laugh.
His opener is a guy named Brooks Wheelan, who I am not familiar with.
re the video: http://tinytinymikebloomberg.nyc -Hilarious.
You're going to have an amazing time. I saw him speak at a local university a few nights ago and he was HILARIOUS. High energy, reactive to the crowd, riffing somewhat on current events, but also telling lots of stories growing up and then moving to the states and just random experiences across America. Very well might have been the best stand up show I've been to, even though officially it was part of the universities "distinguished speakers" series, the idea of which he could not help but to repeatedly mock, him, distinguished. Have Fun!
Thanks Andy, that's great to hear. I'm looking forward to it and could use a good laugh. Who was his opener, if anyone? How were they?
I have had a few friends go to see Conan. Two were very, very, upbeat while in line waiting to go inside to wait to be seated. Almost boisterous. They kept with the "biggest fan" and "love his stand up" thing. They got seated in the front row. I guess I am saying maybe be really energetic ... get on camera with a hubski shirt?
Someone remind me to tell the story if how I was able to get 3rd row center seats last minute:
So, the show was at 7:30. We showed up around 7pm and quickly realized there was also a 10pm show. How did we realize this? It was on our ticket. Apparently, I accidentally purchased the 10pm showing via Ticketmaster. The guy scanning the tickets wouldn't let us in for the 7:30 show, with good reason, I had the wrong tickets. I explained that I had intended to purchase the 7:30 tickets. He said that the 7:30 show was sold out. I then went to the box-office and explained that I had intended to go to the 7:30. She basically said, "we are sold out." I said, "I'm a father, I have two kids at home and a babysitter, there's no way I can stay for the 10pm show. Is there anything you can do?" She went on her computer and searched for seats. "I'm sorry sir, but we are completely sold out." I told her I understood, but that it was too bad because I was a DPAC supporter. I said, "If we have to, we'd take back stage passes." She laughed and said, wait one moment. She returned and said, "wait over there for a minute," and pointed to the side. We waited and in a few moments she waived us over. "Okay, I have two tickets for you." They were about as good as seats get. Three rows back, close enough to see pimples and far enough away to not get picked on. The guy in front of us was took some crap. Honestly, most people would have just gone to the 10pm show but I live by a simple rule, "you don't ask, you don't get." It was a blast and for the record, Brooks Wheelan was very, very funny.
Read that the first time through as "far enough away not to pick them." That's awesome though! I've never been to a TV shooting of any sort, but NYC is a bus ride away now, and I do enjoy me some Oliver.Three rows back, close enough to see pimples and far enough away to not get picked on.
