I've camped at Colorado Bend State Park before, during a spring when there had been plenty of rain. It was like a dreamworld.
I almost made Eagle, just needed 2 or 3 more merit badges and my project. Then I found out about girls, and got on drumline. So that was that. Still, I probably logged over 100 nights of camping back in the day, between Cub and Boy Scouts, and family trips. Don't get me wrong, the Boy Scouts have terrible tolerance issues and turn a blind eye to hazing (HAVE YOU EVER BEEN SNIPE HUNTING??), but it was usually pretty good fun, and I learned more than other kids who just played Mario Kart 64 every weekend. Plus there was that one time that three of us snuck out of Freeze-O-Ree in the dead of night to hike 5 miles to the Girl Scout camp down the road, only to find that they don't hold events in mid-January.
