Watch the first one. Then stop.

If you have spare time, watch it twice.

If you still want to watch a movie, watch Blade Runner, then wonder why Ridley is worth 1% of what GL is worth.

Merchandise tie ins and licensing. From http://www.lucasfilm.com/divisions/licensing/ :

Lucas Licensing is responsible for licensing and merchandising activities relating to Star Wars, Indiana Jones and other Lucasfilm entertainment properties - and even after more than 30 years, the Power of the Force continues to thrive. With over $20 billion in consumer sales world-wide, Lucas Licensing manages a program that includes the best-selling boys toy line of all time, 100 million books in print (and more than 80 New York Times best sellers), merchandise sold in over 100 countries and a global program of Star Wars museum exhibitions exploring the science and myth behind the Saga. Supported by the breakthrough animated television series Star Wars: The Clone Wars and robust initiatives to engage fans of the live-action Saga, the success continues across multiple licensed product categories - including toys, publishing, apparel, consumer electronics, housewares, and even the symphonic Star Wars experience, Star Wars In Concert. Year after year, Star Wars remains a powerful force in the licensing arena, making it clear that the company's mantra is true for the consumer, as well: Star Wars is Forever.

But, Empire Strikes Back...?

I totally agree, but ESB was sick good.

I guess it leaves you unresolved, however.

I've to agree. Although I love me some New Hope, IV<V.

ESB also had the advantage of Gary Kurtz and Irvin Kershner, plus a ton of other people, telling Lucas what he was doing wrong.

Look, I saw the original six times the first day at the Tiger Town theater in Baton Rouge. Age, what, 12? Missed work. Worried my grandparents. Was starving as I had no money and it was pre-ATM and I didn't have a checking account. And if there had been a seventh show, I'd have watched that one too.

What beats that?

PS - Ok, Blade Runner. But otherwise?

And... I concede to the man that watched Episode IV six times on opening day.

Good day, Sir!

Remember back then? I have no idea how old you are, but in 1977 we were watching, for jebus's sake, Saturday Night Fever, Oh God, Annie Hall, Goodbye Girl and Close Encounters.

Blew. Them. Away.

PS - Midway in Surround Sound anyone?

I was 2.

I think the first movie that blew me away was E.T., at age 4.
