Hey all. You can delete your posts indefinitely. I plan to create a nuke option that allows you to wipe your whole account, because that's an option that I'd like to have on a site like this. notseamus was interested in another option, being able to wipe past posts up to the present. That's something I need to think on implementing, and if I do it, it's going to take a bit of work to do. Currently, you'll have to go post by post if you want to erase a bunch of posts but not your account. However, if you want to wipe your whole account, until I get the self-serve function pushed, I'll do it by request.
eb, thundara and fr33lunch mentioned here that they aren't keen on users deleting their posts, since they also delete the conversation of others. I can understand this position, and I personally wouldn't do it for that reason. But it is the author's post. Just as they have the right to delete it, you have the right not to comment on it. If someone makes a habit of deleting their posts, I either won't comment on them, or put little effort into it when I do so.
