Here's another neat trick to try when lucid dreaming: ask the characters in the dream who they are or what they represent. "Their" answers might surprise you. I've only ever done it once, but it's interesting what you can learn about yourself from your dreams.

I remember all of my dreams within the first 10-15 minutes of waking. Then they slip away and only present themselves as undefined familiarities that pop up occasionally. I know that I can sometimes shape my dreams while I'm in them. I will try to ask the characters in the dream who they are and what they represent. Interesting experiment.

Woke up this morning and it wasn't till I was in the shower that I thought, shit, I totally forgot to be an active participant in my dream".
I just remembered another trick that I read somewhere (but haven't actually tried) that you in particular might find useful as an artist and musician. If you're looking for inspiration, try this. Before walking into a room or turning a corner, say to yourself something along the lines of "Once I open this door, I will hear the most beautiful, unique melody."
Maybe it will be complete gibberish, or maybe it will be a song you've heard before, or maybe it will be nothing at all. But hey, it's worth a shot!

I'm all over it. Thanks for the recommendation. These types of things keep the process "fresh".
