Jesus Christ. That started off funny, but then was just filled with sadness and despair. Then ending with "Land Locked Blues". That's more likely to make me cry than laugh. Becoming one of those yuppies on the patio is my fear in life. Don't think I'll give up whiskey any time soon.

I don't think I'll be giving up mouthwash either :)

Remember when we used to hide mouthwash in the plant box at the Old Town? ...Wait, was that Kaufman?

That's the crux of the problem. Can you escape it if you're perceived as such? All the hipsters here think I'm a yuppie douche, because I'm gainfully employed, drive a 3 series coupe and have a nice condo. I don't feel like a yuppie, but as thenewgreen points out, no one thinks he's the asshole, some people just really like fresh arugula and endive salads (only kidding, don't write back about how delicious greens are). Do we dictate who we are, or do others?

I don't think much about it. But if I do, it tends to be along these lines, "would 21 year old me think I'm a douche that compromised his dreams for Arugala"? I think 21 year old me would be psyched that I spend my money on stuff that 21 year old me would have liked too. Music, instruments, good drink/food. I have a nice house but not an obnoxious hey, look at me house. I have a brilliant (and gorgeous wife) I think 21 year old me would be psyched. Am I a yuppie? I don't even know what that means. If this is what being a yuppie is though, sign me up cause I like it.
By the way, greens are delicious.

Sadness and despair make you long for the funny. That's why that last line is such a breath of fresh air. I loved the "carrots" moment at the beginning.
As for yuppie-dom, be careful. Nobody ever thinks they're a yuppie.
