For the record:

My criticism was that people don't view Tolkien's work as books, they view it as some unassailable brilliance that is utterly beyond reproach. Your response was to reject any statement of Tolkien's work as books because they are unassailable brilliance that is utterly beyond reproach.

Whether you meant to or not, you proved my point. Three years back, mk and I were having a convivial discussion about Tolkien worship. Your move was to summon me, kick sand in my face, and say I was full of shit.

They're just books. And Tolkien was just an author. Sorry that makes you sad, but you're better than this.

Yes; I apologize for starting this conversation. It didn't and couldn't possibly have served any purpose.

I think we've talked Tolkien before; we should do it again. Maybe not like this, though. ;-)

Or we could start the book club back up and slowly plow through the old fantasy classics with hubski. Diamonds in the genre are rare, but there are enough to sustain us for a few months.

Throw down. I've got one more book to read for my agent and then I could go there. Points for audio.

I ain't got the bandwidth to run it. I'm 60hrs/week until they cancel Attention Whore Prison Camp.

Okay, saving this post. Got a lot of reading on my plate already -- in media 13 or so, which is a function of my damn mind acting like one of those insects that skips about on pondwater -- but fantasy is quick and dirty.

Will return.
