I'd like to hear your thoughts on Contact. It's been a long while since I've read it, but I remember it fondly. I recall that I wasn't happy with the movie's treatment of the religious angle. I've read a number of his books, but Contact and Broca's Brain left the most lasting impressions.
I'm enjoying it so far. And while your complaint is probably the most common one I hear, I have to say - I actually much prefer Zemeckis' approach of making "faith" the personification of someone likeable and "industry" the personification of someone understandable than Sagan's "I'm going to have a proxy argument with myself for a dozen pages in dialog, strap in."
