My god, I was pissed off at all the choices until I got to the Beach Boys and realized this had to be satire. Pretty funny in that it definitely got me worked up.
The Beach Boys were terrible! I can't stop laughing, that video is cracking me up. It found me earlier today and I just had to share it with you.
Yep, that was absolutely hilarious! Thanks for sharing, I just laughed a lot.
Geeze... that is way before my time. It's so shrouded in mystery that I can't even get a bead on the release date. Major props for obscurity. When I first started, uhh, committing felonies by inhaling plants circa one decade ago, "Window Licker" was one of my jams. BUT... If you didn't get further than the A's in the list, you may not have realized that it's an intentionally ironic piece. To be fair, havires tried to help us out with a #notreally tag. And I still got enraged by the time I made it to the B's!
12 February 1992, if you're curious. Off Aphex Twin's first album.I can't even get a bead on the release date.
Hahah, NO!! And, it's NOT opposite day! WINKWINKWINK ...But seriously, yeah, it's a "best of" list. I didn't even have to navigate the page, I just did a ctrl+f for "Yoko", and when nothing came up, I knew. Don't question art.
"Without a winking smiley or other blatant display of humor, it is utterly impossible to parody an extreme point of view in such a way that someone won't mistake it for the genuine article."
Seriously, from a production standpoint, it's hard for the average person to fathom exactly how much went into making her original vocal recordings sound acceptable in that mix. The amount of pitch bending, subtle auto-tuning, re-sampling, underlying chorus delay (or just really good reverb?)... it's a nightmare. Hah, thanks, galen, now Reggie Watts's name is permanently soiled for me... he was featured in several of Yoko's "Bad Dancer" scenes. Always nice to see my so-far-spotless icons stumble, makes me realize we're all just constantly gambling on our decisions. ...But seriously, gambling on Yoko had 120 to 1 odds!

Images of Ira Glass
Which dance before me like a million suns.....
This may just be me, but Ira Glass' voice makes me want to slam my head against a wall. Every word I hear from him that enters my headphones sends shivers all the way down my spine. I dunno what it is but I can't listen to him for more than an hour. It makes listening to the podcast difficult, heh.
see my reply of embarassment to am_Unition. definitely not enough coffee in my system when I was reading this one.
