Very interesting. I think it could become more acceptable in a court setting if the word "smell" wasn't used. The word smell invokes subjectivity. "smell the oak in the Chardonnay"? -No, smells like wine to me.
But if it is described purely on the level of science it may have a fighting chance in our judicial process. Very cool process.
