Thank you for sharing. I'm drafting up a blog post on political poems and this very well will make a mention.

I am looking forward to your blog.

Perhaps it's ok with flag to talk about political poems here. I'm linking a very powerful political poem by Ken Sara-Wiwa. He was murdered by the Nigerian government for activism against the oil development that was destroying the lands of his tribe. It's called "The True Prison".

I mentioned it when you asked the community "What poems are on your wall?" almost 100,000 posts ago.

The poem isn't explicitly political, but check out ZenPencils's fantastic rendering of Invictus too.

Psst hey lil - you gotta wonky bracket on your hyperlink.

That was a really good post. Nearly a year ago. I was moving. As it happens, I am again. Every year for the past SIX years, baby!

thx for the correction. Yeah, that was a really interesting post.

pm me about your move... is it to where we talked about?

I recall reading the defence speech that Saro-Wiwa gave at a Nigerian military court. Your description of the case is as I remembered it to the word. It's a very permanent story and one that's worth looking into.

Totally agree, a heart-breaking story. Read his son (Ken Wiwa)'s memoir about his father's life, called In the Shadow of a Saint. Shell Oil has a lot to answer for.

    almost 100,000 posts ago.

Whoa. I am so new to this community. It's easy to forget that.

every post, response, and pm gets a number - so 100,000 posts is not even a year -- still a year is 12 times longer than you've been here....how did you ever live without this?

I hardly remember, lil. I think my time on reddit served as a good-enough substitute for the kind of interaction I find here when supplemented by infrequent parties IRL with some of my best friends.

I am glad to hear it is easy to forget. It gives lie to some of the protests about this community being insular.
