I am not so sure it's a parody, but just coincidental timing. I think it's a dig at Buzzfeed, Gawker and HuffPo, rather than Reddit. Buzzfeed wouldn't exist without parasitizing Reddit.

The brilliance of it is it is both: it's parodying the style of reddit's acts of kindness blog post while satirizing sites like gawker and buzzfeed who leech content off of places like reddit.
