I can't say that I really give to charity too often or even to people asking for change on the street. My generosity tends to go towards people I am close to. When I was in my early 20's I made a lot more money than my mom and my sister, who were both struggling quite a bit. So I used to take them out to dinner or lunch all the time. Sometimes it was because I just wanted the company or to go out and I knew they couldn't afford it so the only way they would join me was to pay for it. Sometimes it was because I just wanted them to go out and not worry about the money. No matter how much I would tell my sister to not pay any attention to the prices, she would still always order the cheapest thing on the menu.

I think it has a far greater impact when you are able to do something kind face-to-face. It's often the human interaction that carries the most weight, not the money. Very cool of you Lu. I wish that I lived closer to my siblings and my parents, I'd like to be able to do something similar.
