I think they've always been at loggerheads and this just spurred PZ Myers on. I really like Pharyngula, it's a great blog.

I think it's fair enough to highlight these things that TAA is saying, especially because it seems to have precedent. If someone's proclaiming to be a figurehead or a mouthpiece for a movement, they they have to be almost unimpeachable, and TAA has shown that he really isn't (not that I would have considered him to be one before now).
