Wow I thought had been +50 years, not 45. On a semi related note I'm disappointed that this was just a camera "trick" it seems like if it wasn't, then it could be extra motivation to get boots on the ground there. Anyway turns out it was nothing more than the equipment/light/shadow. I couldn't think of anything better to say here. It was 45 years ago that Neil Armstrong took the small step onto the surface of the moon that changed the course of history.
This probably isn't as important as a lot of the other things that are talked about in the article, but I am very excited at the prospect of finally having some good up close pictures of Pluto. Who knows what knowledge we could be missing or what questions could arise from that mission.In 2015, the New Horizons mission will fly by Pluto and see the icy world up close for the first time.
