Good read. People forget that Americans first foreign war was the War of the Barbary Coast http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/First_Barbary_War . Won the whole thing with gun boat diplomacy and chests of gold. I think we could have learned something from it, instead we went the regime change rout.
