Imma tell you straight, if someone said that to me in a discussion I'd be ticked off, and your comment above comes with absolutely no context or justification behind it. Why would you think your viewpoint was any more considered? Literally, out of left field, a dismissal with no justification, which is why it didn't work as a dismissal.

Totally correct. You did not say that JV was harmed by "gender role enforcing". In fact you said he wasn't. JV is presenting the fact that your statement is incorrect, and he is then stepping forth and saying where he perceived that harm comes from. All you are responsible for is saying:

It's great that you went through life without facing or suffering from gender role enforcement

which is yet another totally unjustified statement that assumes a whole lot more about JV than I think he does about you.

So why are you asking about his attitude again?
