A new game played in at least one Minnesota schoolyard is upsetting parents and teachers with its "disgusting" premise. "Rape tag" is just like freeze tag, with one alarming difference: Participants need to be humped to be unfrozen.
When I was in 4th or 5th grade we used to play Rodney King at recess. As soon as we were let outside each person would have to say "not it", and the last person got the King label, and we chased him around and beat him up for the duration (not brutally, but like wrestling and other harmless stuff). We had a similar situation when the school authorities caught on, meetings with the principle and whatnot. Anyway, they gave us detentions, told us to stop and we did. The game was a stupid kids' game, and it didn't mean we were raging racists, and it didn't cause any long term damage to our psyches. I think the fact that this made the news means its getting blown way out of proportion.

Not even just kids, people in general sometimes do silly and stupid things. Just go to any major sporting event and you will ample proof of that. What got me wasn't so much the game that they were playing. It was the reactions from the parents when confronted with having to talk to their kids.
Yeah, my little sister (13) and her friends throw around the word "rape" pretty carelessly, too. I still find it weird and uncomfortable. Although I have to admit that the thought of dozens of kids going around dry humping each other on a playground is perversely funny in a way. The world gets stranger every day.

What did the parents say?
They were not pleased. Sprung says 15 to 20 parents have contacted him, "some of whom were upset about having to discuss the sensitive topic with their children," says Wood. Sprung says he sent the letter "to quell rumors and speculation," and thinks his staff has done an "excellent job" of "extinguishing the game." No kids have been spotted playing rape tag since he sent his letter.
Parents were upset because they have to discuss sensitive topics with their children? What were they expecting when they decided to have children? Wow!!
