A Ditadura Envergonhada (Ashamed Dictartorship), by Elio Gaspari. It's the first of five books detailing the 21 years of military dictatorship in Brazil. Sadly, I don't think it has an english translation. Damn good book. Well researched and well written. http://www.amazon.com/Ditadura-Envergonhada-As-Ilus%C3%B5es-...
And this. http://inventwithpython.com/
That is too bad. We don't pay much attention to Latin American history here in Anglo America. In school, we read about the Aztecs and Incas in the most superficial way, then fast forward to Bolivar, then spend more time on the Alamo than any other part of Mexican history. Its a shame, because there's so much rich history both pre-Colombian and during colonial and post-colonial times. Then we read about Chavez and Morales in the paper and wonder why they would elect socialists, with no respect for history whatever.

I wonder why he chose to go with Python 3.x instead of the more widely adopted 2.x.

I am most certain that he will. He enjoys gaming so I can definitely see him getting totally into it.
