Some pretty alarmist statements about this stuff. Really. "What Can I do with my model aircraft?" It basically boils down to "don't try to make money off of it without a license" which is essentially a paparrazzi law. People forget: You can't legally operate those Radio Shack walkie talkies without a license, either, but everybody does. This basically gives the FAA teeth to come down on you if you cause a catastrophe with your toy plane. they're not banning sales, they're not banning operation (unless it's over 55 lb and not certified by a "hobbyist organization" - ever seen a 55lb model airplane? they're impressive) they aren't even banning operations within airports - they're saying "notify the tower." Anybody who saw the proliferation of gopros and Parrot ARs saw this coming a mile away. The only structural difference between yesterday and today is they can now officially accuse you of violating the law if they think you've violated their 2012 ordinance.
yeah, this has been anticipated for a while. im really watching to see if the media fear machine picks it up or not.
