Hi Hubski! I published the poem "The Last Crumb" here on hubski for the first time some months back. I needed to make illustrations for a poetry reading, and I ended up illustrating the whole story and turning it into a book.
Thanks for your support and enthusiasm, it is now an actual "product"! Cheers to y'all!
If you haven't yet read The Last Crumb, it's well worth reading. Congrats, Mike! However, TBH I think this poem deserves professional illustrator treatment. These images don't do it justice. You need someone that can illustrate as well as you can compose mathematical verse.
Thanks Mark! I tried to pitch illustration as a hubski crowd-source task, but I had few takers. thenewgreen made a good effort! I tried to get my daughter to illustrate it but she wasn't too interested. I suppose I could keep hunting ... I think the illustrations I made work, but something astonishing would be awesome. Another problem is I'm not used to making money from my projects, and getting a professional would require paying a lot up front or promising a percentage -- and then I'd feel the need to market the book and make sure my illustrator makes actual money. Maybe I could find a combination illustrator/agent? I'm open to any ideas and recommendations!
Congratulations Mike! I agree with mk, this book deserves the royal treatment in regards to illustration. I bet you already know many artists, but if you need any recommendations I may know of som . They definitely charge money for their work but it may be worth it. Again congrats!
