I spent just a short amount of time on Turk before realizing it was a waste of my time. It was clear that everyone posting work on there was fully aware that having such work done in other, more traditional ways would cost them a significant amount of money and they were clearly getting the better end of this deal by far. About 5 years ago though, I spent some time working as a guide for a site/service called ChaCha (is that still around?). You could text in questions and a guide would find the answer and reply in as little time as possible. Guides made some small amount per question answered. I'm sure part of the difference in my experience with each of these had a large amount to do with my age at the time I took part, but answering random questions for ChaCha was a lot less depressing and stressful than turk.
