OK, because it's one place I've been thinking about seriously visiting - there are two really good MFA programs in Austin, and I hear it's a cute liberal mecca. Not like the rest of Texas, necessarily. I'm glad to hear you like it!
Southwestern have an MFA? Or St. Ed's? I mean I suppose UT probably does, don't know if it's any good. Austin is WONDERFUL. To take a random example, an AMA made it to the front page today from a bored Austin food truck owner who exclusively cooks artisan grilled cheeses. Because that was his dream.
Hahaha, the Michener Center for Writers (in Austin) is run by UT and if it's not in the top 10 MFA programs for poetry it's certainly in the top 25; it's a fully funded program. So it's very, very good. UT at Austin also has a program (yes they're 2 different programs even if by same university?) that is also very good. One is a 3 year program and the other is 2, I know it sounds crazy but yes, there really are two of them.
