I can only speak for myself, but I like it when writers, musicians etc share their work. It takes a lot of work to create something like that. It's cool when people share their work IMO. What do you think?

I agree with both and you that as long as the materials are relevant and that the submitters are sharing their work then it is perfectly fine. But if the submitters are only submitting links back to their own site(s) without any other contribution, then I think they are nothing more than spammers trying to game the system.
